At EstateSaleFinder, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our platform. We built this platform for buyers, sellers, resellers, antique booth sellers, thrift store shoppers, homeowners, and estate sale professionals — and we are committed to being transparent about how your data is handled.
Note: This privacy policy is a general-purpose disclosure and does not constitute legal advice. If you have specific privacy concerns, please contact us at [email protected].
We collect the following categories of personal information depending on how you use the Platform: Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account. Business name, phone number, service area, and professional details if you register as a seller or estate sale company. Profile and Listing Data: Photos, videos, item descriptions, pricing information, sale dates, addresses, and other content you upload to the Platform. Location Data: ZIP code and, with your permission, precise GPS coordinates used to show you nearby estate sales, garage sales, and vintage shops. You can revoke location access through your device settings at any time. Payment Information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, Stripe, Inc. processes your payment card information directly. We do not store your full credit card number. We receive and retain transaction records including plan type, billing date, and amount. Messages: Content of in-app messages between buyers, sellers, and homeowners. Homeowner Hire Request Data: If you submit a hire request to find an estate sale company, we collect the information you provide including property details, reason for sale, timeline, high-value item categories, and any photos you upload. AI Analysis Data: Photos you submit for AI appraisal, along with the identification results and price estimates generated by our AI tools. If you save an analysis, this data is stored in your account. Usage Data: Pages visited, searches performed, sales viewed or saved, wishlist items, route plans, and time spent on the Platform. We also collect your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system. Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect data about your browsing behavior. See the Cookies section below for details and opt-out options.
We use the information we collect to: Provide and operate the Platform — including showing you nearby sales, enabling messaging, processing payments, and delivering notifications. Match homeowners with estate sale companies — hire request information is shared with matched estate sale companies to facilitate introductions. Power AI tools — photos you submit for appraisal are processed by third-party AI services (Google Gemini and Google Lens via Serper) to generate item identifications and pricing estimates. Personalize your experience — showing you sales near you, sending wishlist alerts when matching items appear, and remembering your preferences. Send communications — transactional emails (account confirmations, sale alerts, hire request updates), and, if you opt in, marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time. Improve the Platform — analyzing aggregate usage patterns to identify bugs, improve features, and understand how the Platform is used. Enforce our Terms — detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms and Conditions.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances: With other users as part of normal Platform operation — for example, your seller profile and listing information is visible to buyers; your name and contact details are shared when you respond to a homeowner hire request. With homeowners upon hire request — when a homeowner submits a hire request, their property details, reason for sale, timeline, and photos are shared with matched estate sale companies. With service providers — we share data with the following third-party service providers that help us operate the Platform: • Supabase (database, authentication, file storage) — supabase.com • Stripe (payment processing) — stripe.com • Google Analytics (usage analytics) — policies.google.com/privacy • Google / Gemini (AI image analysis and pricing) — ai.google.dev • Serper / Google Lens (visual item search) — serper.dev • Resend (email delivery) — resend.com These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for purposes other than providing their services to us. In the event of a business transfer — if EstateSaleFinder.net is acquired, merged, or its assets are transferred, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy. As required by law — we may disclose information when required by a valid legal process, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of EstateSaleFinder.net, our users, or the public.
We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies: Essential Cookies: Required for the Platform to function. These include session cookies that keep you logged in and preference cookies that remember your settings (such as location and display preferences). These cannot be disabled without impairing Platform functionality. Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies to collect aggregate information about how visitors use the Platform. This data helps us understand usage patterns and improve the Platform. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or by declining analytics cookies in our cookie consent banner. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertising networks. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling all cookies may prevent some features from working correctly.
The Platform uses artificial intelligence tools in the following ways: AI Photo Appraiser: When you upload a photo for appraisal, it is sent to Google Gemini (AI image analysis) and Google Lens via Serper (visual search) to identify the item and estimate its market value based on comparable sold listings. The output is a suggestion — not a certified appraisal. You should not rely on AI pricing estimates for insurance, estate, tax, or legal purposes. AI Description Generator: Sellers can use AI to generate item descriptions and sale descriptions from uploaded photos. These are generated by Google Gemini. AI Social Media Studio: Sellers can generate social media content using AI. Content is generated by Google Gemini. AI Auto-Reply: Sellers may enable AI-assisted responses to common buyer messages. These are generated by Google Gemini and can be reviewed and modified before sending. No AI tool on this Platform makes binding decisions about users. AI outputs are suggestions and recommendations only. Users retain full control over all decisions based on AI-generated content.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Platform's services. Specifically: Account data is retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time through your account settings. Listing and sale data is retained for 3 years after the listing closes or is deleted, to support dispute resolution and legal compliance. Messages are retained for 2 years. AI analysis data is retained for as long as you choose to keep it in your saved analyses. You can delete individual analyses at any time. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required for financial and tax compliance. Analytics data collected by Google Analytics is subject to Google's own retention policies (typically 14 months by default). When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including: • Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) for all data transmitted between your device and our servers • Encryption at rest for data stored in our database (provided by Supabase) • Secure authentication including email verification and optional two-factor authentication • Access controls limiting which employees and systems can access personal data • Regular security monitoring and vulnerability assessment Payment card data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulatory authorities as required by law.
